As a young boy, growing up with my mother and two sisters, I would watch, fascinated, whilst they prepped and primed themselves in the mirror, transforming themselves from fresh faced women, into glamorous and gorgeous ladies.
This is where my passion for beauty took root.
In 2005, I decided to study Makeup Artistry at Face to Face Makeup Design School in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, where I met many wonderful artists and was exposed to the various different designs and styles of makeup application.
After working as the makeup artist for Clarins, I migrated over to MAC, where I worked as a part-time artist for a year, with some incredible artists, all of whom helped me perfect my skills and fine-tune my talent. Thereafter, I moved on to the Assistant Lecturer for the Makeup Artistry class at Face to Face in Durban where I trained, mentored and guided the learners, molding them into artists who could perform well under pressure, and deliver a high standard of work.
In July 2009, I was given the position of regional sales representative for Kryolan Professional Makeup in the KZN region. During this period, I completed a Nail Technician and Hairstyling course at Face to Face, as well as a Fashion Styling, Etiquette Consultancy and Wedding Consultancy course, through ColourWorks International, mentored by world-renowned image consultant, Anne Dreyer.
In 2011, I was transferred to Johannesburg, where I became the Kryolan SA sales representative for Johannesburg East and South, as well as Mpumalanga, Free State and Northern Cape. It was during this time that I did 2 years of freelance work for E-TV, doing makeup and hair for the news anchors on e-Nuus, e-News Africa and eSat.
In 2011, Face to Face Head Office in Parktown approached me to assist them with part-time lecturing for their makeup artistry classes, an opportunity which I grasped with both hands, as I had discovered my love for teaching and mentoring during my time spent at Face to Face in Durban.
2015 saw the emergence of my modelling career. One photo shoot snowballed into several and before I knew it, I had photographers from all walks of life contacting me to set up a test shoot, or to work with them on a specific creative concept. Working with numerous well known photographers in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, has further broadened my knowledge on editorial makeups and lighting.
In October 2016, I was promoted to Head of Makeup & Training for Kryolan South Africa, a post that included both in-house and external training, as well as heading up the Social Media platforms and Marketing functions.
Over the last twelve years, I have worked on countless wedding events, and fashion shows, including Bollywood fashion/dance events, award ceremonies, red carpet events and photographic shoots.
I believe that every woman deserves to feel beautiful, and special, and to have the confidence to lift her chin, adjust her tiara, and take on the world, with her best face forward.
